In July 2017, Sentry Security shared a Cleveland Police report of five burglaries that year in Middlesbrough, including Coulby Newham, Beechwood, Pallister Park and Kader. Offenders had used a fishing rod or similar instrument through a letterbox to reach house keys, gain entry and steal the occupants' cars.
The advice was to keep keys securely out of reach of anyone outside the property. Avoid leaving house or car keys near a letterbox or an accessible window.
